Also known as Mission Mat Certification Completed.

I earned that! It was worth the work. After countless hours of studing Pilates history, anatomy central to the Pilates exercises not to mention the 20 hours of personal practice, 10 hours of instructor lead mat Pilates classes and 25 hours of practice teaching in less than 2 months, I'm official qualified to teach mat Pilates to the masses in the form of group classes and private sessions.

The test had 3 parts to it. The first part was a private 30 session designed by the students for their client. I had a blast coming up with the routine for my sister (a native of Chicago) (really smart and wonderful) (did I mention kind?) and I loved practicing with her. The second part was a group session demo where the teacher would assign each student in class a set of exercises from the controgoly series (Joseph Pilates original mat Pilates exercises). Then whoever had the set of exercises that was first in the series started the group exercise test off. When we recongized our set was up next, we just had to get up and start teaching the group and the previous student instructor would lay back down on her mat and join the group again. The last part of the test was a written portion where we had to list the controgoly series (plus a few other exercises) in classical order, answer multiple choice questions about antamy and Pilates history, lastly we where asisgned a fictional charactor to make up a pilates routine for. It's not an easy test at all! I'm so so very grateful for everyone that volunteered to let me practice on them. Espescially my dear husband, my lovely sister, a wonderful Pilates studio owner/instructor, and my friends at church! And thanks Pilates Chicago!
